Angola is one of the fastest urbanizing countries of Africa with annual urban growth rates about 5%, with a population of 27 million, where 62% live in urban areas, like Luanda, the country's capital, i home to 1/4 of the population and faces strong demographic pressure from rural exodus, rather because of armed conflict and now the job and service opportunities it offers, resulting in a rapid and disorganized process of urbanization in the peripheries. Housing has become a priority development issue in Angola in the decade following the end of the war in 2002, with a public policy aimed at building 1 million housing units before 2015.
