Because of superior energy compaction and correspondence with human visual system, one-dimensional DWT has been proven to be a key operation in audio processing and two-dimensional DWT for image processing. In our project we are implementing only 1D DWT for audio processing. To optimize speed and memory requirement, we propose novel VLSI architecture for 1D DWT. This work discusses architecture, working and implementation of multiplier less 1D DWT in detail. Performance results of 1D DWT using Xilinx is presented.
