In two afro-antillan pieces Nana para una Negrita and El Cumbancherito, Cordero employs resources and sonorities such as crossed strings, percussive blows, quarter-tones, pizzicati and harmonics. The composer's intention is to evoke the sonorities of the afro-antillan culture, particularly that of the islands of Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Santo Domingo. The works are dedicated to the Uruguayan guitarist Baltazar Benitez. Text written in English and Spanish.
