The 2011 Western Bulldogs season is the club's 86th since their introduction to the VFL/AFL in 1925. Matthew Boyd was confirmed to be the captain for the season, and Rodney Eade remains as coach. The Western Bulldogs are an Australian rules football club which plays in the Australian Football League (AFL). The club is based at the Whitten Oval in West Footscray, an inner-western suburb of Melbourne. The club draws its supporter base from this traditionally working class area and plays its home matches at Docklands Stadium in the Melbourne Docklands area which is also in the city's inner-west. Prior to October 1996 the team competed as the Footscray Football Club, but since then has traded as the Western Bulldogs.
