"21 Strategies to Spice Teaching with Proverbs" is a game like activity that showcases the importance of incorporating an underestimated tool: Proverbs. Despite their importance in teaching several aspects of the target language, proverbs are rarely used in language teaching. For learners to develop cultural communicative competence, special attention is required to incorporate proverbs in the curriculum to include activities based proverbs based in textbooks for teachers to utilise in their lesson plans to enhance cultural competence and communicative competence. I guess it is unique in the sense that each strategy contains 6 components: Aim, skill, level (low, intermediate,...), material, procedure and examples on how to use the strategy. The advantage of the strategies is that no sophisticated equipment is required. I had in mind teachers working in places where technology is non-existent. Holding the view that language and culture are inextricably linked, this book highlightsnot only how proverbs can be an excellent tool in teaching a foreign language class but also a springboard to raise learners' awareness about other cultures that would lead so it is hoped to tolerance.
