Autorenporträt
Born in Mirandola, Italy in 1976, Marco Siena was an early reader cutting his teeth on such diverse authors as Franklin W. Dixon, Edgar Allan Poe, and H.P. Lovecraft. The rudiments of writing were learned from an exceptional teacher at the Italian Technical Institute who instilled in young Marco the passion for Gothic romance and terror that he already loved, but also taught him the structure and elements essential for this kind of fiction writing. Marco spent almost twenty years writing RPGs where he learned technical discipline and gained experience in the refinement of a personal style. But only with the advent of the Internet did he get to see his own stories become published in various anthologies. His next step was to participate in a small publishing house competition that he won hands down. From that competition came his first novel, The Nine Stars, published for that imprint. Two years later a second novel, Before Vanish, was also published. Marco's first self-publication was DD1: Ignition, a novel that begins a steampunk/horror trilogy that has met with favorable reception among fans of the genre. From there, he hasn't slowed down, continually trying to refine the minimalist technique of authors he admires like Raymond Carver, Elmore Leonard, and Joe Lansdale with whom he feels a writer's bond. Currently, Marco writes in different formats, from short stories to novels. The second installment of the steampunk/horror trilogy DD2: Combustion is in the works and he's finishing a paranormal noir expected out in 2016. His favorite genres are noir, horror and thriller, all served with strong doses of irony.
