The discography of 30 Seconds to Mars, an American rock band, consists of three studio albums, four EP's, ten singles, eight music videos, and two video albums. 30 Seconds to Mars was formed in 1998 in Los Angeles, California, by singer and rhythm guitar Jared Leto and drummer Shannon Leto. The group signed with Immortal Records and Virgin Records. The group's debut single, "Capricorn (A Brand New Name)", entered the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks at Number 40 on September 7, 2002 and reached Number 31 on the October 5. The second single from the album, "Edge of the Earth", failed to chart. The band released their debut album, 30 Seconds to Mars, on August 13, 2002, the only one to feature all original founding members. The album debuted at Number 1 on Billboard Top Heatseekers on September 14, 2002. After three years, the band released their second album, A Beautiful Lie, on August 16, 2005. In January 2006, A Beautiful Lie was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for distribution of over one million albums.
