Geothermal energy is a potential renewable energy source which is reliable, economic, environmentally friendly and sustainable. Several geological surveys showed that Slovakia is relatively rich on geothermal sources. To aid geothermal exploration 3D modelling is a very useful tool. The objective of the project was to model of the reservoir rocks and characterize the geothermal potential of the Subtatric region in Slovakia. From geothermal point of view the most potential are Mesozoic units represented by Choc and Krizna Nappes underlying Paleogene rocks. Book may be useful for potential investors which are interested in the development and utilization of geothermal energy in the Poprad basin region. Geothermal modeling outputs can be used as a guide to location of the sites for detailed seismic and geological exploration and follow feasiblity study for geothermal utilization.
