The first volume of a complete history of New Jersey's most intensely competitive high school football conference. Featuring oral history interviews with over fifty players, coaches, and fans involved with teams from across the Shore, this book captures the excitement felt by anyone who has made their way to a high school football game on a Friday night, Saturday afternoon, or Thanksgiving morning. Founded in 1936, New Jersey's Shore Conference is one of the state's oldest and most accomplished high school football conferences. Its rich history spans generations and mirrors the development of life at the Jersey Shore. Over the years, it has brought the community fierce rivalries, iconic local heroes, and some of the richest traditions in high school football. Until now, this history has never been collected in one book. Beginning with the league's founding in 1936 and concluding with the emergence of the state playoffs in the 1970s, this first volume tells the changing lives of Monmouth and Ocean counties through the perspectives of the players, coaches, and fans who live and breathe Shore Conference football.
