A self-proclaimed "reluctant" writer, Michael P. ("Mickey") Moynihan, Jr., relies on a talent for storytelling that arises from the deep emotional connections with his world which spill onto his pages in vivid expression of the joys, pains, and spiritual elements of his life. He begins this second memoir with his early childhood as part of a working class family living in post-World War II New York, a long way from his previous publication, the combat memoir entitled Fighting Shadows in Vietnam. Always writing with a sense of optimism and appreciation for life, Moynihan sees himself as a mortal apprentice auditioning upon the world's crowded stage, evolving in a universal consciousness while engaged in the complexities of life.
