A broken building is, metaphorically, something not able to function as dreamed of or as designed for; something structurally unsound due to it being deliberately destabilised or let fall into disrepair because of attack, neglect or ignorance. It is a frail, inadequate shelter that houses otherwise homeless or lost emotions. It is not a dream built but a dream broken. It is not what was or what could have been but what is. It is a profound sense of loss and of wasted opportunity.
