"This hopeful guide shows a path stretching beyond boundaries, cultures, and classes on a road to understanding that's paved with love and stories. Reading Kristin Pedemonti's methods and joyful action touched my heart." --Lyn Ford, storyteller, teaching artist, and author of Affrilachian Tales "Kristin Pedemonti doesn't only care for the stories--she cares for the people behind the stories. Her warm-hearted enthusiasm extends to the communities that claim their heritage, and her work gives voice to them, instead of telling their tales for them. Kristin is on a rare kind of mission, one that aims to preserve age-old tales in their context; she works to make story and community thrive together. This book is an account of her adventures and experiences, and a truly important, eye-opening resource for the international storytelling community." --Csenge Zalka, storyteller, author, and collector of folktales "With openhearted generosity, Kristin shares not only the story of her amazing journey but complete lesson plans and valuable tips on inter-cultural work. She deepens our understanding of the culture and legends of Belize all the while imparting courage and a can-do philosophy that could truly change the world. Read and be inspired!" --Diane Edgecomb, author of A Fire in My Heart: Kurdish Tales "For many years I have admired Kristin's boundless energy, vision, and commitment, and now we can take a multicultural journey with her. This book offers us a window into her inspiring and life affirming work with the people of Belize. Her personal stories and connections are powerful, brimming with respect and reverence for their beliefs. The step-by-step curriculum outlines, folktales, and cultural nuances make this an invaluable resource for educators, storytellers, and anyone working with an indigenous community." --Karen Chace. teaching artist and author of Story by Story: Creating a Student Storytelling Troupe
