THE VIRTUAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT - AVA, TUTORING AND EVALUATION Faced with the emergence of the new challenges that EaD goes through and of some benefits that this teaching modality enjoys, we are concerned with scoring and analyzing some issues that will possibly contribute positively to distance learning becoming more efficient and promising. In this work we approach the role of tutoring within the Virtual Learning Environment - AVA, and the evaluation processes mediated by the Tutor. We found that both learning evaluation and institutional evaluation are important to diagnose the potentialities and weaknesses of students and the educational institution and that the results obtained in these evaluations can be converged in a positive way stimulating the development of students in the renewal of the teaching-learning process mediated by the Tutor.
