In April 1971, the Ministry of Agriculture of Indonesia grants permission to companies from Japan and East Malaysia to conduct joint forestry in Borneo. By 1972, the Japanese government has provided investment financial assistance amounting to 5.4 million yen to private entrepreneurs in Indonesia.
