Agricultural Science is a subject that has both theory and practical components. Teaching the subject, especially at the Junior High School level, must involve practical sessions which help pupils acquire needed skills for agricultural activities. Ideally, practical agricultural science lessons should be held in school farms or gardens. Unfortunately, many basic as well as Senior High Schools do not have such practical fields where practical agricultural science lessons can be held. This usually, leads to a situation where the subject is only taught in the classroom (theory). This book provides documentary evidence, based on research, of the contribution of School Gardens to the performance of basic school pupils in Agricultural Science examinations as well as its influence on the pupils' decision to pursue Agriculture as a career. The Book is a reference material to educational policy makers, researchers as well as Agricultural Science teachers.
