In the transition from the Civil Right Movement something happen along the way to the social responsibility the Black church had to the African-American community. A Charge to Keep examines the transition from the social mission of the Black church to an economic and evangelistic mission. The author examines this through an education, health and economic lens. A Charge to Keep further examines the current expectations of African-American parishioners in light of the social change brought about through the accomplishments of the Civil Rights movement.
