This book records and brings to book the fact that Kom women have played far more complicated roles in the socio-political wellbeing of the Kom Kingdom. It contests the generally accepted concept that women's value and actions confined them to domestic companions and child-bearers. This aligns with the current debates and theoretical search for a wider and more appropriate interpretation of the place of the woman in development in a dynamic society. Though written within the context of the Kom woman, this book is applicable to the history of women in Cameroon in particular and Africa in general.
