Autorenporträt
Genevieve C. Kissack and her grandmother survived the Nazi occupation of Paris. In 1944, sixteen-year-old Genevieve watched from an upstairs window as G.I.'s milled about in the street below, laughing and slapping each other on the back. She thought, "America must be a wonderful country if men can laugh in the streets." Much later, Genevieve came to the United States and wrote poems about her wartime experiences.
