This book tries to highlight the affinities and distinctiveness of different religions from pre-historic times to the advent of monotheism. In doing so, the civilizations of the world have been taken into account and the religious affiliations of their respective peoples. As religion always entails some kind of controversy, such themes have been dealt with on scholarly angles so as not to hurt religious or denominational sensitivities. In the increasingly troubled times in which we live, religion serves as a palliative balm on our injured psyche and is surely a soul of the soulless world.
