The book is dedicated to raising funds for Fraternite Notre Dame Orphanage situated in Mongolia. The orphanage was established to house children that were being found on the local dump, abandoned at hospitals, or delivered to the orphanage from the police headquarters. The home tried to maintain a family grouping of around twenty-three children ranging from four to twelve years old. The choice has always been to ensure these children remain together and receive as many opportunities as possible to live lives that mirror those of other Mongolian children. The children attend local schools and engage in a wide range of extra activities provided by local volunteers. They have few luxuries, but are always clean, well dressed, well fed, warm and healthy. Maintaining what is effectively a family of twenty-three children does not come cheaply. The orphanage receives no government funding and is entirely reliant on the generosity of local benefactors to continue operations. The government has recommended that the orphanage now employ more staff. The home is required to employ a manager, social worker, an extra teacher for before and after school, and a cook and cleaning staff. This forms the largest component of their monthly budget. There are no expenditures that allow for clothing, outings, unforeseen medical expenses, or extra activities. The purchase of this book supports the continued efforts of Fraternite Notre Dame Orphanage in Mongolia.
