The general feeling among some of the Yorùbá people is that E su is the Satan of the Christian religion and Shaitan of the Islam religion. However, according to the Yoru ba theology, E su is one of the primordial divinities created by Ol dùmaré (God) and he is in charge of rituals and sacrifices. This study posits, through analytic, argumentative and descriptive methods of research, that, though, Satan has been wrongly interpreted as E su , but a close look at the two personalities would reveal that the differences between both deities are more than the similarities, which validate position that both deities are different. In the same vein a preferable substitute for the interpretation of the Biblical Satan into Yorùbá was prescribed, this is aimed at erasing the already held misconception in the minds of people particularly the Yorùbá Christians and as well instilling the right conception into their minds.
