The teleosts are the most numerous and diverse of vertebrates and their mode of life varies to a great extent. In some groups, behavioral reactions, especially those associated with feeding depend largely upon the acute sense of smell (macrosmatic fish), while others relay on senses other than olfaction (microsmatic fish).Like all vertebrates, fishes have sense organs that tell them what is happening in their environment. The organs enable them to see, hear, smell, taste and touch these organs comprise the olfactory organ, eye and inner ear. The olfactory organs and eyes are considered as higher sensory organs. In the present study, we make a comparative study on the olfactory organ and the eye on Mugil cephalus (El-Boury) which is marine pelagic dweller and Malapterurus electricus (El-Raash) which is bottom freshwater.
