The term plastic surgery is derived from the Greek word plastic or the art of modeling or sculpture. The profession dates back to about 800 BC in India, where forehead flaps (a flap is a single tissue that is transferred from one site (donor) to another (recipient) while storing its own blood. It was used to restore severed noses. Ancient Egyptians and Romans also performed plastic surgery to repair ear, lip defects and improve skin appearance. Like many words in the English language, the origin of the word plastic is derived from the Greek language. It is derived from the term plasticus which means to mold or shape something. Therefore, the term plastic surgery has nothing to do with the synthetic polymer that Americans know as plastic. This is when German physician Carl Ferdinand von Graf coined it to describe the process of doctors molding or reshaping body tissues. Although it was not called plastic surgery at the time, the first instance of it can be traced back to 2000 BC.In this book we try to explain the Comprehensive Overview of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Based on Clinical Points for students and all people to be interest.
