Andrei D. Polyanin is a professor in the Institute for Problems in Mechanics at the Russian Academy of Sciences and a professor of mathematics at Bauman Moscow State Technical University. He is a member of the Russian National Committee on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics as well as the Mathematics and Mechanics Expert Council of the Higher Certification Committee of the Russian Federation. A prolific author of more than 30 books and over 140 research papers, Dr. Polyanin has been a recipient of the Chaplygin Prize from the Russian Academy of Sciences and an award from the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation. Alexei I. Chernoutsan is a professor, dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences Education, and head of the Department of Physics at Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. Dr. Chernoutsan is a prominent scientist in the fields of statistical physics, fluctuation kinetics, phase transitions, and percolation theory. He is deputy editor-in-chief of Kvant , a popular Russian educational magazine for schoolchildren and students.
