Each day's devotion is short, readable in approximately 5 minutes, and contains common and relatable daily occurrences (many from my own life's experiences from childhood through marriage), objects, and Bible stories written with spiritual applications for daily encouragement. Each day's devotion begins with a title hinting at the day's theme; followed by a short anecdote or sermonette, and lots of metaphors throughout the books. There is related scripture each day ending with a prayer for the day. Readers will be encouraged to realize that no matter what they are going through (no matter how difficult or trying it may be) they are NOT alone because God is always there. I want my readers to know they can rely on Him for peace, comfort, direction, and joy even in the midst of heartache.

Marlene Burling, a resident in Batavia, NY, is a widow. She was a pastor's wife, has 3 married children, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. They began their ministry as home missionaries and later served in regular pastorates. She has been a teacher of children, youth and ladies, and has been a speaker at ladies' banquets and workshops. She has written articles for newsletters, and has developed a workshop titled, "There's Life After Loss-(LIVING in Widowhood)" which she has presented at two women's state conferences and several churches. She has a weekly blog (posted every Monday morning) on her web site (www.marleneburling.com). She has had several radio interviews as well as 2 TV interviews and 3 virtual interviews. She started a widow's ministry in her church for widows and singles. The group is called The King's Daughters. She also co-leads with another lady from her church in a support group called "Grief Share." What began as a personal exercise to process her grief upon the death of her husband, to whom she was married for 51 years; took on a life of its own and resulted in the collection of two, 365 daily devotional books, titled, "Morning Walks with God" and "A Daily Walk with God." The author has captured common and relatable daily occurrences, objects, and Bible stories and written spiritual applications for daily encouragement. Each daily reading has a title hinting at the day's theme, followed by a short anecdote or sermonette, often using metaphors, covering a wide variety of subjects including both devout reflections and even some enjoyable, positive humor. She concludes each day with a relevant Bible verse and prayer or questions to think about through the day. Readers will be encouraged to realize that no matter what they are going through (no matter how difficult or trying it may be) they are NOT alone; because God is always there. She wants her readers to know they can rely on Him for peace, comfort, direction, and joy even in the midst of heartache.
