Then, in cooperation with the CIA, they performed an operation under the codename "Operation Ajax" to install General Zahedi as prime minister. The plot to kidnap Afshartoos was an act to create chaos in the capital. At the same time they have brought conflicts and chaos in some other cities. The characteristic of kidnapping and killing Afshartoos, was plotted by General Zahedi and it was performed with the assistance of his son Ardeshir Zahedi, by a number of retired generals. Mosadeq foiled the plot organized for ousting him, and threatened the Shah, Kashani and many other opposition members. He promoted Major Naderi to colonel and appointed him, as the Head of Criminal (and Secret) Investigation Departments.
