A Dream of Armageddon The man with the white face entered the carriage at Rugby. He moved slowly in spite of the urgency of his porter, and even while he was still on the platform I noted how ill he seemed. Presently he was moved by a sense of my observation, looked up at me, and put out a spiritless hand for his newspaper. Then he glanced again in my direction. About H. G. Wells Herbert George Wells was an English writer. Wells is best known for his science fiction novels and is often called a father of science fiction, along with Jules Verne and Hugo Gernsback. His most notable science fiction works include The Time Machine, The Island of Doctor Moreau, The Invisible Man, and The War of the Worlds.
Autorenporträt
H.G Wells is one of the founding fathers of Science Fiction who, along with Jules Verne, helped define what was then called 'scientific romance.' Born in Bromley, Kent in 1866, his most famous work is arguably The War of the Worlds, where Martian invaders lay waste to great swathes of Surrey. In his stories he predicted spacecraft, aircraft, nuclear power, tanks and something suspiciously like the internet. Many of his most famous works, like the Island of Dr Moreau, explore what man might be capable of - and what the consequences of our actions might be.
