As most of them make it to Agnes' Midnight Truck Stop Diner, Agnes, the corn-fed, beef-raised, Kansas-born waitress warns them of the possibility of a serious outbreak of harsh winter weather, but the travelers discount her years of veteran weather experience across the bleak winter expanse of western Kansas and blow off her advice. The second half of the book is the trouble and adventure they "run into" as they try to reach their destinations only to find out they must rely on themselves to keep from freezing or being scraped off the road by the soon to come snowplows. You'll get to know the characters and find out what personal treasures they must give up for an attempted rescue mission. Do they come up with a miracle plan to be rescued from the freezing cold, a growing highway-obliterating snow drift, and the eventual oncoming conga-line of snow plows that stop for nothing.
