Autorenporträt
British civil servant, historian, and novelist Robert Sewell (1845-1925) made substantial contributions to the study of South Indian history. The "A Forgotten Empire: Vijayanagar" book by Sewell, which gives a thorough history of the Vijayanagara Kingdom in South India, is his most famous and influential work. The book is still a valuable element for academics today and is regarded as a milestone in the study of Indian history. During India's colonial era, Robert Sewell worked as a British government official in the Madras Presidency. He was responsible for recording the old inscriptions and monuments in the area as the Keeper of the Madras Record Office. His work is still regarded as making a significant addition to knowledge of Indian history and culture.
