Üniversiteden sonra Surinam`da paral¿ asker olmakla suçland¿¿¿ 1982 darbesine yakaland¿. Daha sonra bir ¿irket müdürü iken, `Çöl F¿rt¿nas¿` s¿ras¿nda ev yap¿m¿ beton bir yatta Barry`den Cebelitar¿k`a yelken açmak üzere dört ki¿ilik mürettebata forsa olarak kat¿ld¿.
