J. N. Grim was born in Santa Barbara, Calif. I have three degrees in Zoology: BA (UCSB), MA (UCLA, and Ph.D. (U-C, Davis). I am a retired biology professor after 27 years with Northern Arizona University. The second author is my beloved wife who gave me an idea for the book that was so very exciting that I honestly believe that gave me the motive to start writing. I am most pleased to honor her as co-author!!! I have published over 50 articles on biology; albeit, most were on one celled "very wee" critters. But, I do have scientific articles published on: the odd behavior of an oceanic bird (1), rodents (3), moles (2), and one on humans. I have described and named 10 new-to-science one celled critters. My interest in birds---I suspect---came from studying them in my youth for my BSA "Bird Study Merit Badge". I have been a "bird-lover" ever since! Finally, here in Flagstaff, we have had ravens in our back yard on many occasions - often chatting and eating goodies from a near-by Safeway.
