This book is to investigate to use of genre by the Imams while delivering the Friday Khutbah (sermon). The purpose of this study is to look into the characteristic features of the generic use under the title of 'Genre Analysis'. Research writings about genre were initiated in 1980s and Swales was the groundbreaker. No research work is on record in this field. So it would help the future researchers to add something in this field. Data are gathered from observation, notes and transcriptions of audio recording. The researcher recorded the sermons (speeches) of the Imam for generinc analysis and highlighted the characteristic features of the Friday sermons. Mixed (qualitative and quantitative) research design is opted for the generic analysis of the sermons. It is observed that the tone of Imam, his intonation, way of quoting the Quranic verses and sayings of the prophet (Hadith) attracted the interest of the audience. Arabic version of the sermon is not the subject of this researchwork. Three sermons are selected for generic analysis and none of these is of equal length.
