The researcher recorded the sermons (speeches) of the Imam for generinc analysis and highlighted the characteristic features of the Friday sermons. Mixed (qualitative and quantitative) research design is opted for the generic analysis of the sermons. It is observed that the tone of Imam, his intonation, way of quoting the Quranic verses and sayings of the prophet (Hadith) attracted the interest of the audience. Arabic version of the sermon is not the subject of this researchwork. Three sermons are selected for generic analysis and none of these is of equal length.

Masood-ur-Rehman is associate professor at Govt. Post Graduate College for Boys Muzaffarabad. He has been teaching to the post graduate students for the last 20 years. He has done his M.Phil from the university of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Muzaffarabad. His area of interest is Pragmatics and Discourse Analysis.
