Bill Tammeus is an editorial page columnist for the Kansas City Star, where he has worked since 1970. He has done freelance reporting for numerous publications, including the New York Times and the Washington Post. He is also the coauthor of They Were Just People: Stories of Rescue in Poland during the Holocaust.
