This series came together kind of by accident, totally organically, through watching the love between my little girl and the rescue pup we share with my parents. The whole idea behind the series was to pay it forward, while capturing the love and imagination that is shared between children and their pets. I knew from the beginning that I wanted partial proceeds from every book sold to be donated to the BC Children's Hospital and to the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation (Women's Shelter), but I wanted to incorporate the magic that can come for children from spending time with an animal as well. Over the years it's been said time and time again by people who meet her that Zola should be a therapy dog because of her gentle nature and love of children. The vision was to get Zola all trained up as a service dog, and be able to take her into Children's Hospital to read the books to the children staying there. But then Covid happened, so that vision is just a vision for now. We will just have to wait and see what it all evolves into!
