George Robert Benton was born on the 14th of December 1925. He volunteered for the Royal Navy in early 1943 at the age of seventeen years, and served as a seaman aboard HMS Impulsive during the North Atlantic campaign on Russian convoys. George now enjoys a retired life, his passions being gardening and writing.
