This study deals with the history of Far a Wäräda of South Gondär Administrative Zone from 1935 to 1991. By using archival, oral and written secondary sources, the study gives an analysis of the participation of the people of Far a Wäräda in defending their country against the Italian invasion and the scarificce paid by the patriots of the Wäräda in the period of resistance after the area was occupied by the Italians. The administrative rearrangements, the relationship between government officials and the people in relation to land and taxation, and the security and justice during the imperial period are also included in the book. Moreover, the reforms of the Därg such as the land reform, the establishment of producers cooperatives, villagization, basic education and reforestation programs, the response of the people to the reforms, the positive and negative accomplishments of the Därg, and the struggle between the Därg and its opponents are described. In addition to these, the infrastructural history of the wäräda is included. Road construction, air transport, pure water, health and educational facilities in the wäräda are included.
