This work seeks to fill the major gap that exists on the historiography of Gédeo people in general and Yerga ffé district in particular.It reconstructs the major historical events and processes by emphasizing on the evolution of administration,the socio-economic developments and the nature of inter-ethnic relations in the district from 1934/5-1991. By working on an area that has not been studied well, the paper would contribute to the preparation of comprehensive history of Ethiopia.
