This book focuses on software reuse and the chances, dependability tests and recommendations for best reuse practice. A short introduction of the Ecodesign of hardware is given combined with the latest update of relevant EU legislation and standardization. It also describes the combination of different states of software in a E&E system in order to guarantee dependability of the product to be resold.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Fevzi Belli chaired the working group "Software Engineering", Institute of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Paderborn. In IEC, he was Chairman for IEC 62309 (dependable reuse of hardware) and IEC PAS 62814 (dependable reuse of software). Dr.-Ing. Ferdinand Quella is Polymer Chemist and headed with Siemens laboratories for Material Science, Total Quality Management and Product-related environmental protection. In ZVEI, he headed the working groups for Ecodesign, and in Standardization, he worked with ISO for Ecodesign (ISO/TR 14062) and in VDE for reuse. He is the author and the co-author of several books about Ecodesign.
