Dr. Joseph Shuman, MD, was born and raised in Havana, Cuba, where he lived during the 1940s and 1950s. He immigrated to the United States shortly after Fidel Castro seized power. A practicing endocrinologist for forty-two years, he has called Miami home since 1973. He and his wife, Maxine, have been married for fifty-one years and have twenty-one grandchildren.
