My first book entitled A Journey of Faith: Overcoming Generational Abuse and Sexual Addiction tackles the tough issues of overcoming problems that are passed down from generation to generation and how it seems that while the methods of coping change, the main struggle issues seems to be hereditary. The difficulty is that in today's culture, even the church is judgmental - not recognizing that the best way to help someone overcome these problems is to provide a supportive, encouraging, safe place where people can be open and honest. It is my contention that God is much more concerned with the attitude of the heart not with how much one struggles. Everyone has different paths to walk and if one had a "perfect" childhood, then he/she often struggles to reproduce that environment for his/her children. Joe is an author and is very active in his community spreading the love or Christ as he continues his own recovery process. He is constantly seeking God's direction through prayer and is always interested in following God's direction for his life. He has been an over the road truck driver, a substitute teacher, a meat department clerk, a server at a restaurant and even spent one month in the United States Air Force Officer Training School. He loves sports especially golf and baseball and is joy filled that God is restoring a life that has been so broken. Joe is also involved in Celebrate Recovery as a method to continue healing and help others along the path as well. He attends bible study meetings as often as possible and reaches out to teach where possible. Joe is looking forward to setting up a website soon and resides in Centralia, Illinois.
