Autorenporträt
Dom Anscar Vonier, a Benedictine theologian, was born November 11th, 1875 in Ringschnait (Wurttemberg, Germany). In 1893 he entered the Benedictine monastery of Buckfast, Devonshire, England. He became a priest in 1898, and in 1900 went to Rome where he received his doctorate in philosophy. Upon his return to Buckfast he was named Prefect of Studies and Solicitor of the monastery, positions that he carried out until 1905, at which time he returned to Rome to teach philosophy. Nevertheless, in 1906, shortly after his move to Rome, he was named Abbot of Buckfast. He remained director of the monastery until 1938.
