Though written throughout 2018, I believe this collection could easily apply to any year for anyone at any time. I'll never forget 2018. It was an emotional rollercoaster for my family and me. Each of these poems is a personal and honest observation of what was going on in and around me at the big moments throughout those 12 months. They are my take on all that I heard, touched, smelt and saw. I hope this collection gives you an insight into the highs and lows of human existence, and the contemplating and philosophising that life-changing events can inspire. I hope too that, along with the cathartic satisfaction it gave me to write them, these poems will give hope, solace and strength to anyone who needs it. - Matt Fielder

Matt Fielder is a prolific writer who has previously had work published as a food critic, columnist and journalist for The Richmond and Twickenham Times, as well as just about every other local newspaper and magazine in Surrey. He is also a renowned compère and MC of many events both large and small up and down the country, as well as an accomplished kids and adult party DJ. He is, however, perhaps best known locally for being a rock singer and fronting many bands over the years. He currently has an album out 21-Gun Salute by the United Kingdom of Rock, showcasing his work and gigs regularly on the pub circuit with classic rock cover band Ransom. He has been married for 30 years to his wife, Alicia, and they have two children - Ryan (16) and Zosia (11) - and they live in Fetcham, Surrey. Although a contributor to many publications over the years, this is in fact his first officially published book of any description.
