Sigrid Hauffstudierte Islamwissenschaft, Philosophie (Ernst Bloch) und Romanistik in Tübingen und Istanbul. Sie unterrichtete zwanzig Jahre lang an Universitäten und Goethe-Instituten in Ägypten, Afghanistan und Griechenland.Gedichte, Kurzgeschichten, Zeitungs- und Zeitschriftenartikel, Katalogbeiträge, Rundfunksendungen über litararisch-philosophische Themen und über Menschen, die im Gegenlauf zu unserer Zeit ihre eigenen Wege gehen oder gegangen sind, wie z. B. Herbert Achternbusch, Sun Ra und Robert Lax. Die Sendung über Robert Lax Is was - was is war im November 1990 Hörspiel des Monats. Ihre Biografie von Robert Lax erschien 1999 im belleville-Verlag.
