John Warner Smith's poems have appeared in Ploughshares, Callaloo, Antioch Review, The Worcester Review, River Styx, Bloodroot, Pembroke, Fourteen Hills, American Athenaeum, Quiddity and other literary journals. Smith's debut poetry collection was a finalist in the 2013 Crab Orchard Series in Poetry First Book Award competition. His short collection, "Hunting Dragonflies," was a finalist in the 2012 Poetry Contest of the Tennessee Williams / New Orleans Literary Festival. Smith earned his MFA in Creative Writing at the University of New Orleans. He and his wife Narva live in Baton Rouge.
