After owning a thriving health club for a decade, and despite working out on average 3 days a week with a personal trainer at high intensity, most of the time I barely had the energy to be a couch potato. What energy I did have was used to make my way from the couch to the refrigerator and I was still hungry all the time. My weight was 245 lbs., body fat percentage of was 26.1 and visceral fat rating was 13. All considered to be in the over fat range. No wonder I did not have any energy. The weight and body fat I was carrying around, even though I am considered tall at 6'-3", put me into the danger zone for a whole host of risky diseases at 53 years old. Because I had an appetite all the time, my second helpings could have taken first place in the buffet line. Not only was my calorie intake out of control my food choices were not the best. Then at my annual physical I boasted to my Doctor about my dedication to working out regularly. He asked, "How do you feel?" I had to admit I was sadly lacking in the energy department. After a few tests and results I got some disheartening news. My BMI was 32 and cholesterol levels were over 300. My doctor said, "No wonder you are tired," and gave me a healthy eating brochure. I was at high risk for problems and have a genetic history of heart disease. This was a 'wake up' call and I decided to answer. After all I was 'sick and tired of being tired' and did not want to leave my fantastic wife (married 28 years) and three wonderful grown children by going out early if I could prevent it. Here I am today... I am at my goal weight with so much energy I travel the country to participate in triathlons at 53 years old. And I feel great! I want the same for you... living at your ideal weight, having all the energy you need, and add years to your life. So, I became a health coach and am sharing my story, discoveries and guidance with you in this book. This is my mission for you; a life of zest. This book is a heart to heart talk between you and me about improving your health, your life and reaching your goals.
