This is a transdisciplinary research that uses an asset-based community development approach to involve residents of a community of poverty to seek a solution in helping children who are at risk of dropping out of school. Knowledge from the fields of psychology, social work, public healthcare, the science of education and theology are put in conversation with the aim to reduce the risk of dropping out of school.This is a case study of InnerCHANGE South Africa, a Christian missional team. It is centred around a reading club of foundation phase children who were at risk of dropping out of school, to help to cultivate an appetite for reading and learning in creative ways.
