Produktbeschreibung
This monograph gave detailed description of kenaf plant and its geographical spread. It also describes cultivation, harvest and processing of kenaf into products as sacks, pulp and paper, bio -composite materials, absorbents, animal feeds etc. Shifting of international interest from use of synthetic fibers to natural ones necessitated the need for the resuscitation of kenaf production and utilization for sacks production especially in agro raw materials exporting country like Nigeria. Kenaf is the 3rd largest fiber crop after cotton and jute, whose potential is yet to be harnessed in Nigeria, in spite that its cultivation dates back to the 1960s and that the then governments established 2 processing plants in Jos and Badagry (Nigeria). Despite these, kenaf production is still at subsistence levels with scanty and undocumented technical information. This monograph therefore, provides information on production, precessing and utilization of kenaf considering its relevance to the economy development of the producing countries.
