Women like Zoë Read aren't supposed to thrive: dyslexic with severe ADHD, she embraced a kind of grit that says hard work leads to happiness. From law school, to medical school, to Stanford University, Zoë achieved the impossible dream. But she hated who she was inside. In A New Kind of Grit, wellness physician and activist Zoë Read M.D. unearths the power we discover when we ignore conventional wisdom and follow our intuition. An inspiring memoir and passionate call to action, this is the story of how one woman learned to embrace her rebel spirit and rise. It is the story of how all women can begin to trust themselves, leverage their anger, guard their mental health, and unleash a life of storytelling, exploration, and connection. A New Kind of Grit is a roadmap to authentic living. As Zoë insists: The more rebellious we are, the more authentic we become.
