Mordecai Gwin's will was not dated, but probate was February 1785/March 1, 1785. Mordecai and his seven sons were all in the Revolutionary War. Edward Gwin, Sr. (born 1747) was the son of Mordecai of Orange County, North Carolina where Edward is documented as being a lieutenant, captain, major and colonel in the American Revolution - a soldier from the beginning to the end. Mordecai's sons left North Carolina between 1785 and 1790, some moving to Tennessee where they lived in Sumner County prior to their move to Carroll County in 1820.
