In sudden expansion recirculating eddy is formed due to the flow separation at the expansion plane followed by its reattachment at the solid wall. The pressure distribution, velocity distribution and other important flow parameters are significantly influenced by the recirculating bubbles in sudden expansion configuration. The configuration of sudden expansion may be used in different purposes of industrial applications. e.g., as a diffuser, combustor, a mixing chamber, biomedical devices etc.

Dr. Sumit Kumar is an Assistant Professor at Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Central University of Haryana in Jant-Pali, Mahendergarh, Haryana (India).
